Local Spotlight

Belleville Downtown DocFest is dedicated to fostering the art of filmmaking and as such seeks out and supports local documentary filmmakers. The festival provides them with an opportunity to present their films to an audience as well as interacting with filmgoers through Q&As, networking with other emerging filmmakers, attending professional development workshops, meeting established filmmakers and finding distribution for their work.

2017’s 6th Annual DocFest will screen 17 films created by local filmmakers with the goal of turning the camera lens on all that this area has to offer. The Quinte region is home to some amazing talent and DocFest is incredibly proud to be able to give these artists the platform they need and deserve to have their work seen, and to compensate them financially in accordance with the Independent Media Arts Alliance fee schedule.

DocFest is pleased to be offering a filmmaker workshop series to help further develop aspiring and established filmmakers locally and across the province.

Be sure to vote for your favourite local films on your DocFest audience survey.

The DocFest Audience Choice Award for Best Local Film goes to the winner.

Thanks go to Peter Paylor for designing the winner’s trophy!
