October 18, 2021 – DocFest Welcomes New Committee Members

Congratulations to Joanne Alyea & Brittany Ollerenshaw

DocFest’s preparations for our 2022 hybrid festival are in full swing.

We’re gathering our list of films, planning new workshops and preparing to offer online and some in-theatre viewings of our curated films. We’ve also brought on two new board members, Joanne Alyea and Brittany Ollerenshaw.

Joanne Alyea

Joanne recently retired after 25 years as an administrative assistant at the Belleville Public Library. She is married, with 2 daughters and 2 grandchildren, and a cat. Her favourite pastimes are spending time with family, travelling, shopping and reading. She looks forward to working with the DocFest committee.

Brittany Ollerenshaw

Brittany studied Film Theory at York University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 2007. Brittany was accepted as a member for the 2014 Doc Accelerator Program run in conjunction with Hot Docs in Toronto. In 2015 Brittany left horticulture and went on to study and work as a nurse. She continues to make documentaries about passionate creative people. Subsequent films include “Making a Musical” (2018) and “Harvesting Dreams” (2021) both showing at DocFest and the latter winning the 2020 Audience Choice Award.

We’re tremendously excited to have Brittany and Joanne join our DocFest team. The team will continue to prepare for the 2022 festival with the hopes of providing the best at home and in-person experience. Passes will be on sale soon and stay tuned for film and event announcements.
