After more than 40 years in operation, the Highlands Cinemas in Kinmount, Ontario (population 500) has become an indie theatre treasure. The film focuses on the cinema’s eccentric owner, Keith Stata, whose love of film and stubborn determination created a 5-theatre venue along with a museum of movie props, posters, projectors, and mannequins. He even makes his own popcorn.

As COVID descends on the community, Stata is faced with new challenges. An intimate portrait of a remarkable character whose single-minded focus has created a local landmark.
