OPENING Reception – Monday, February 25th from 5-8pm | CORE Gallery – 223 Pinnacle Street
(Closes Saturday, March 2)
This year’s art show at DocFest takes its name from Metamorphosis, a new film by Nova Ami and Velcrow Ripper, but it takes its subject from almost every film in the festival – change. Profound change.
Change is enigmatic. We are suffering from change. We won’t stop suffering without change. We have to stop changing the planet. We have to start changing the planet. We need to stop changing the way we always thought. We need to start changing the way we think. About the earth. About our cities. About food and housing and transportation. About each other. About ourselves.
Metamorphosis the film is, “A poem for the planet.” It “takes the pulse of our earth and bears witness to a moment of profound change: the loss of one world, and the birth of another.”
Metamorphosis the art show hopes to do the same. Local artists have been invited to think about change. The works in this show are a reflection of their thoughts.
Metamorphosis the art show is also an invitation to you, the audience, to participate.
Throughout Saturday, March 2 you will have opportunities to contribute to a number of works in progress. To be part of the show. To be part of the change.
