The Australian Dream
The Australian Dream uses the remarkable and inspirational story of AFL legend and passionate advocate for Indigenous causes, Adam Goodes, as the prism through which to tell a deeper and more powerful story about race, identity and belonging.
The story of Adam Goodes, an Aboriginal Australian who was a legend in the Australian Football League. After being called a racial epithet by a fan and having her ejected from the game, Goodes suffered abuse by fans for several years. After his retirement from the sport in 2015, he became an activist for Indigenous rights in Australia.
The film explores Australian Aboriginal identity, the undercurrents of racism in modern Australia, and one person’s ability to deliver a powerful message about the destructive forces of discrimination and colonisation.
