The Rose Family

The Rose Family

A personal perspective on one part of the 1970 October Crisis when Front de libération du Québec (FLQ) members Paul and Jacques Rose kidnapped provincial cabinet minister Pierre Laporte who was found dead by strangulation within a week. Fifty years later, filmmaker Félix Rose, son of Paul and nephew of Jacques, sets out on a personal journey to better understand the events of October 1970.

The result of 10 years of research, the film presents rare archival footage and interviews with key figures, in an attempt to situate Laporte’s murder and the October Crisis itself in the wider social context of this tumultuous period in Quebec’s history.
