Before Airbnb, CouchSurfing was a platform where strangers opened up their homes to strangers for free, enabling the travel of millions around the globe. The organization grew from a volunteer fueled start-up to a multi-million-dollar business but somehow never benefited its founders. This is the story of the rise and demise of that dream.
